TEXT STRUCTURE

Highlighted Passages Provide pairs of students with identical passages that you have pre-highlighted. Process: Student A reads the yellow and student B reads the green. Prep: Pair a stronger reader with a weaker reader. In the passage, highlight most sentences with new vocabulary or unfamiliar names/places in yellow. The next time the word is repeated in the text, make sure you highlight it in green so the weaker reader will have a chance to practice it after he or she has had a chance to hear it pronounced by the stronger reader. Alternate colors as evenly as possible, dividing the passage as closely in half as you are able. |
